Group Art Exhibition “The Beach,” curated by Scott Bluedorn
Group Art Exhibition “The Beach,” curated by Scott Bluedorn, on view at the Amagansett Station
August 10 – September 15, 2019 during opening hours or upon request.
Curator’s statement:
An exhibition of artists’ work directly inspired by the ‘beach’ — environmentally, materially, spiritually, and /or culturally. The beach is a frontier, an interface between the terrestrial (worldly) and the oceanic (otherworldly). Beyond a landscape, the beach is a cultural mindset that represents escape, leisure, entertainment, even vice. It has been a stage of human drama through exploration, science, war, trade, and conquest. The beach has always been a place ‘apart’, at once wilderness and a conduit to other places.
Featured artists include Casey Chalem Anderson, Scott Bluedorn, Candace Ceslow, Amanda Church, Dell Cullum, Peter Dayton, Idoline Duke, Terry Elkins, William Graef, Erica-Lynn Huberty, Janet Jennings, Tim Lee, Bruce Lieberman, Edwina Lucas, Jane Martin, Christine McFall, Dalton Portella, Cindy Pease Roe, Anne Seelbach, Rich Silver, Peter Spacek, Billy Strong, and Aaron Warkov.
