The Amagansett Life-Saving Station Museum is pleased to host a summer exhibition, a group show titled “The Beach,” opening on Aug. 11 and on view through Sept. 15, 2019, in the second-floor Crew Room at the Station.

We will be hosting an opening reception on Sunday, Aug. 11, from 5-7 p.m. at the Amagansett Station.

A statement from artist and guest curator, Scott Bluedorn:

“An exhibition of artists’ work directly inspired by the beach — environmentally, materially, spiritually,  or culturally. The beach is a frontier, an interface between the terrestrial (worldly) and the oceanic (otherworldly). Beyond a landscape, the beach is a cultural mind-set that represents escape, leisure, entertainment, even vice. It has been a stage of human drama through exploration, science, war, trade, and conquest. The beach has always been a place apart, at once wilderness and a conduit to other places.”

Invited artists include Casey Chalem Anderson, Scott Bluedorn, Candace Ceslow, Amanda Church, Dell Cullum, Peter Dayton, Idoline Duke, Terry Elkins, William Graef, Erica-Lynn Huberty, Janet Jennings, Tim Lee, Bruce Lieberman, Edwina Lucas, Jane Martin, Christine McFall, Dalton Portella, Cindy Pease Roe, Anne Seelbach, Rich Silver, Peter Spacek, Billy Strong, Aaron Warkov, and others.
